The members of New Norde used to make relatively shiny pop songs as 2000s New Hampshire seacoast stalwarts, The Minus Scale. This new project is a power-pop trio who shamelessly wear influences like Matthew Sweet, Nada Surf, Teenage Fanclub, and Guided by Voices on its collective sleeve.
Forming in the fall of 2019, the band spent 18 months remotely wood-shedding dozens of songs. On April 15th, 2022, New Norde released their debut EP, Whatever’s Clever (Trash Casual / Mint 400); a selection of carefully crafted power-pop songs about growing up, getting out, taking a damn minute, and cake.
The band is spending 2022-2023 in their studio writing and recording their first LP.

Reviews of Whatever's Clever
“My personal favorite track is the syrupy sweet “Amy”, a melody that you will swear is familiar and big almost like it was written to be the theme song for a non-existent sit-com” – Blood Makes Noise
“New Norde brings us killer power pop vibes” – Rebel Noise
“It’s a lovely amalgamation of bands like Nada Surf, The Promise Ring and The Get Up Kids, with enough modern flair to sound like it’s not just cashing in on the nostalgia of the moment. In other words: it’s catchy as hell, and a lot of fun.” – The Rodeo
"The songs which make up this EP have been meticulously created and show no weakness or a brittle aftermath." – The Review Geek

New Norde – Want Me
I’ve long been unclear as to what ‘power pop’ really means, but New Norde sound like they belong under that umbrella. It’s a simple, effective tune that sort of sounds like if Nada Surf and The Promise Ring had a baby. We dig it.
